It's been more than a week since I completed my goal of moving back to New York. I'm...pretty much all settled, so now is as good a time as any for a recap post on how things have been.
After I got in, unloaded the truck, and dropped the truck off, it became time to figure everything out. Moving across the country is really difficult and stressful, especially when you're trying to start your whole life over again. I have so many things that I want to do and see, and I'm really stressing over how to get it all done. I've been unhappy for so long that it's tough to just change things. In the meantime, I started to explore food places in the area, and I got my first real bagel in a long time.
I'm really loving living in Queens. Since I grew up on Long Island, I wasn't sure how I would adjust to being in one of the five boroughs. But, there is so much to explore and so many things to see that I know I'll be keeping busy. Combine all that with my Five Borough Bucket List, and I should have more than enough things to do to occupy my time.
Forest Hills has about 4 million (rough estimate) places to eat at, so I've been trying to cross them all off my list. I'm trying not to eat out more than once per week since I'm on a stricter budget, but I've made a few exceptions because #treatyoself. I met up with my friend Melissa at Austin Public, a great bar on Austin Street. We both had the chicken sandwich!
There's Village Grill, which is an awesome Greek place sorta near me.
And of course, pizza! There's a great pizzeria (Ray Romano's favorite) in the neighborhood, and I've already been there a few times. They have amazing regular and Sicilian slices. Once I get my running act back together, I'll have to try other stuff from them as well.
Other than eating, I've been working a lot. It's crazy to see the difference in views from offices. In Florida, I had a 2nd floor view of the parking lot. Here, well, things are a little different.
I had a welcome home party on Friday night before we marched in the rally on Saturday (more on that here). I'm just really looking forward to seeing my friends more and just...enjoying life.
